One year earlier than planned – This Volkswagen is now dead

Unfortunately, shape and beauty do not protect against discontinuation. Now this model, which was first produced in 2017, is finally over, just under a year before the originally planned date.

Volkswagen is not necessarily known for design icons or beautiful exterior designs, but in 2017 the Wolfsburg-based company succeeded in creating an extremely good design with the Volkswagen Arteon. After the sedan was already discontinued in 2023, the discontinuation of the Shooting Brake is now finally over.

The end for the Volkswagen Arteon

Actually, the end of the Brake Arteon shooting was not planned until 2026, but now the fancier alternative to the station wagon Passat is also history. Together with the sedan, the Arteon produced a total of almost 190,000 vehicles during its eight and five years, respectively. This sounds like a lot at first, but compared to the much more popular Passat, these are vanishingly small numbers.

Accordingly, the early discontinuation of the Arteon as a whole is not particularly surprising, especially considering the problems at Volkswagen. Nevertheless, it is a shame to lose one of the nicer models from Wolfsburg. The replacement for the Arteon Shooting Brake is the Passat one price class lower, while the ID.7 Tourer is the long-term successor to the Arteon as an electric alternative.
