Oeresund Bridge Toll

Bridge toll Denmark: Öresund Bridge – toll between Denmark and Sweden

The Öresund Bridge is certainly a household name for most people, as it is the world's longest cable-stayed bridge for combined road and rail traffic. It connects Denmark and Sweden. If you drive over the Öresund Bridge, you will be on the bridge for a total of almost 8 kilometers and another four kilometers through an underwater tunnel.

You can imagine that the cost of building it was enormous – 3 billion euros to be exact. To compensate for the costs of the Öresund Bridge, a toll is due on the journey. The toll booths are located on the Swedish side.

A bridge toll is also due for the toll in Spain and the toll in Portugal.

Motorway toll

Denmark toll roads: Is there a motorway toll in Denmark?

Denmark has its only border with Germany. If you drive past Flensburg on the A7, you will end up in Denmark. But just like in Germany, as a car driver you don't have to expect a motorway toll in Denmark. There is no toll in Denmark, as it is known from other European countries.

The Nordic country occupies a rather special position, because tolls are available in Switzerland, Croatia, the Czech Republic and Norway, among others - albeit only in special cases.

Plans to introduce a car toll in Denmark?

Currently, there are no plans to introduce a toll for cars in Denmark. The state has a rather negative attitude to this issue, so that a road toll is not to be expected in the future.

Oeresund Bridge

Truck toll in Denmark

Denmark is one of the countries that requires trucks over 12 tonnes GVW to have a Eurovignette. Trucks have to pay a user fee for Danish motorways. The Eurovignette can be purchased either in paper form at petrol stations or border stations, but can also be purchased digitally.

Is there a vignette for Denmark?

No, in Denmark there is no toll, nor do you have to buy a vignette.

Tolls in Denmark – how is it controlled?

Whether you have paid the toll in Denmark is checked by cameras and an automatic license plate recognition system. If you are registered there, then you have done everything right - if not, you will receive mail with a fine notice.
